Building distinction within a growing brand ecosystem

PACKAGING REJUVENATION

The Problem

Ikonic operates across two segments: Ikonic Professional, built for salons, and Ikonic Me, a direct-to-consumer range. But both ranges shared visually similar packaging, plain colours, and product-led imagery, making it genuinely difficult for shoppers to tell them apart.

As a result, Ikonic Me’s younger, lifestyle-driven positioning was getting lost inside a professional-looking system it was never meant to compete with.

Our Direction

The objective was clear: create a distinct identity for Ikonic Me while maintaining coherence within the larger Ikonic ecosystem. We focused on:

  • Differentiating professional versus personal use
  • Designing for younger, style-conscious consumers
  • Building packaging that stands out in modern retail environments

Insight

Through market and shelf research, we uncovered a critical insight:

  •  New-age brands win attention through colour and visual energy
  •  Younger consumers prefer bold, expressive, and trendy packaging
  •  Existing Ikonic Me packaging lacked visual differentiation, shelf standout, and emotional connect

It wasn’t just about visibility, it was about relevance to the audience.

Our Execution

For Ikonic Me, we built the packaging from scratch:

  • Introduced vibrant, high-energy colour palettes
  • Designed imagery to pop and grab attention instantly
  • Simplified layouts for a cleaner, more modern appeal
  • Enhanced typography for quick readability and recall

For Ikonic Professional, we took a lighter hand: retaining the core identity and making subtle refinements to improve consistency and clarity.

This ensured clear differentiation without disconnect.
